Pambassador 2012: European Semi-Finals – day 1

Today was the first day of the European Semi-Finals of Chengdu Pambassador 2012, it took place at my favorite location in Scotland's Capital: Edinburgh Zoo.

We were welcomed at the zoo by Stephen Woollard, Edinburgh Zoo's Education & Interpretation Manager.

In their first challenge of the contest, we had to work hand in hand with a team of Brownies to create a 'China experience' around giant pandas. It was fun to work with the groups of 7 to 10 year old girls. ANd as you know, I think it is very important that we will take care of the future of giant padnas and our planet by educating our children! I am sure we all enjoyed it.

The hightlight of the Brownies & the Pambassador Semi-Finalists day at the zoo was ofcourse a visit to
Edinburgh Zoo's panda pair Tian Tian & Yang Guang!

Frédérique Gilbert, a Belgian Wildlife Journalist is also here to follow the 3 Belgian Semi-Finalists for her blog on RTL.be

In the afternoon, Darren McGarry, Edinburgh Zoo's Director of Animals, gave a very interesting talk about Tian Tian & Yang Guang and what these 2 pandas mean to Scotland!

The second task was an exam. We got 10 questions about giant pandas, 10 about the Chengdu Panda Base & 10 about the fabulous city of Chengdu.

Tomorrow will bring 2 other tasks and in the evening the results of the European Semi-final will be announced…

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
