Chinese Experts Save Sick Wild Panda Bear
Diagnosed with pancreatitis and myocarditis, the animal also suffered from liver damage and had been a victim of parasites. In addition, she weighted only 62 kilograms (the normal average for an animal of her age, 20-year-old female, is 120 kilograms).
According to a statement issued by that center and released by local media, the Panda bear was found on April 17 in the desert of a natural reserve in the city of Dujiangyan.
After three weeks of therapy, although she is reported out of danger, she remains in intensive care because she is still suffering from malnutrition and multiple organ failure so she will remain under treatment for several days, added the press release.
Panda bears in the wild can live about 20 years, while in captivity they live up to 30 years, due to better nutrition and care.
