Whether or not you are an animal lover, you can't help but be completely enchanted by the giant panda bear. Native to Southwestern China, there are fewer than 2500 left in the wild. They are a rare member of the bear family, but don't look much like the bears we commonly see. They are of course, distinctly white with with black eye-patches (like a racoon), black ears, arms, legs and feet. Outside of seeing giant pandas on television, catching a glimpse of one is no easy task - they can't be found in very many zoos in North America. Chi Chi was as rare as her cousins back in China and due in part to her popularity with visitors to the zoo, the WWF decided the way she looked was a perfect symbol for them.
